About Child Helpline Gambia

The 199 helpline is a coordinated initiative design to received and respond to various cases of child protection and gender-based violence and other related cases in the Gambia.

It offers survivors of gender-based violence and other individuals who are vulnerable to speak out against violence and abuse with a focus on providing a safe and confidential option.

The 199 is also synchronized with another helpline called 1313. It is managed by the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Welfare at the GBV Orange center in Bakoteh and operated by trained social workers to provide basic information to callers and recorded calls or cases.
