About Scamwatch

Scamwatch is led by the National Anti-Scam Centre, which works across government and the private sector to protect Australians from scams.

The information from Scamwatch reports is used to identify and disrupt scams. Depending on the type of scam and the information in a report, we may:

  • Send scam websites (URLs) to a takedown service
  • Share scam phone numbers with telecommunications companies for disruption
  • Share information with law enforcement to assist with investigations in Australia and overseas
  • We also use the information in scam reports to warn the community of new or emerging scams

Scamwatch reporters can contact IDCARE for free practical and behavioural support. IDCARE’s Identity & Cyber Security Case Managers listen and provide advice on how to respond to data breaches, scams, identity theft, and cyber security concerns.
