The Tokyo Rape Crisis Center (TRCC) provides free and confidential telephone counseling for women who have experienced sexual violence. Our service is available nationwide, so you can reach out to us from anywhere in Japan with confidence. Telephone counseling without appointment is available every Saturday from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. For other times, please contact us in advance by email at wsw@tokyo-rcc.org When you call, you will be supported by trained female volunteers who have completed our counselor training program. All counselors are unpaid volunteers who listen with empathy and work with you to explore possible ways forward. Many of our volunteers have experience supporting others who have faced similar challenges, so you can feel safe talking to us. Our services are available to women who have experienced sexual violence, the families and associates of victims, and LGBTQ+ survivors of sexual violence. (Please note: in the case of physical consultations, we can only provide support related to women's bodies.) If needed, we can also refer you to female doctors or lawyers. In some cases, our advisory lawyers may provide access to an interest-free loan system to help cover legal fees. Since its establishment in 1983, TRCC has not only provided counseling services but has also carried out awareness-raising activities to prevent sexual violence, including publishing newsletters, holding seminars, and dispatching lecturers. Our services are free of charge and open to anyone, regardless of age, background, or beliefs.
