About Family Drug Support Helpline

Founded in 1997, Family Drug Support (FDS) is a non-religious, compassionate organisation that provides non-judgemental, non-directive support and information to families, carers, and friends affected by alcohol and other drug use.

Our mission is to assist families throughout Australia to deal with alcohol and other drugs issues in a way that strengthens relationships and achieves positive outcomes.

The FDS National Support Line is the only helpline in Australia dedicated specifically to supporting families, carers, and friends impacted by alcohol and other drug use. Staffed by trained volunteers, the service offers empathetic, non-judgemental support, providing callers with the opportunity to share their story, explore options, establish workable boundaries, implement effective strategies, and access appropriate referrals.
