Love, A Stranger is a peer-support helpline dedicated to individuals struggling with eating disorders, body image concerns, and related challenges, as well as the loved ones supporting them. We offer real-time emotional support through both text and phone, allowing individuals to connect in the way that feels safest and most comfortable to them—no app downloads, no pressure, just a compassionate person on the other side.
Our helpline is staffed by trained volunteers with lived or learned experience, who provide non-judgmental, empathetic support. We are not a therapy or crisis service; instead, we exist to sit with individuals in difficult moments, help them feel seen and understood, and offer guidance toward helpful resources when appropriate. We also support friends, families, and caregivers navigating how to best show up for someone they care about, providing both emotional support and resource connection.
Love, A Stranger was created to fill a critical gap in the current support system—offering immediate, accessible, and stigma-free support for those who may not be ready or able to seek formal treatment. Eating disorders can be deeply isolating, and we believe no one should have to navigate that experience alone.
Whether someone is in a moment of struggle or simply needs someone to talk to, our goal is simple: to remind them that they are not alone, and that support can come from someone willing to show up and listen.
